Phoenix Theatre through the years

The Phoenix Theatre originally opened in 1930 and was designed by Giles Gilbert Scott, Bertie Crewe and Cecil Masey, with Theodore Komisarjevsky as Art Director. Its premiere show was Noel Coward’s ​Private Lives​ featuring Coward himself.

Famous shows at the Phoenix

Over the years, The Phoenix Theatre has been home to many successful plays and musicals, ranging from ​Love for Love​ by John Gielgud to the delightful ​Into the Woods​ ​by Stephen Sondheim starring Julia McEnzie. In 1991, the musical ​Blood Brothers​ hit the stage and ran until 2013, making it the longest running show ever at the Phoenix
